learning curve
To say that this stage of this project is a bit more intensive than I anticipated would be an understatement.
I have never before designed a book at this level, nor under such a specific timeline. However, at this point, my frustrations lie simply in the tech difficulties of the programs in use. I have no experience with InDesign, yet it is simultaneously the industry standard for publishing design and the format by which I must build a document to use the most cost effective printing service. Through this, I am essentially teaching myself the basics of a design software in under two weeks, to have the finals prints of this book in hand by the end of the semester.
I’ve spent time finalizing my selection of images and text, and have completed most of the final re-edits of images for final draft.
Layouts are complete and set in the conceptual sense, I just now need to digitize that.
I currently have the layouts of page spreads posted on my wall in my studio. The task now is to digitize this for printing.
